What is Erasmus+
study mobility?
Erasmus+ study mobility means that higher education
institution students spend one or two semesters of their education in a higher
education institution in a European Union member country within an academic
year. In order to carry out the activity, your department must have an Erasmus
Bilateral Agreement with the relevant department at a higher education
institution that has the Erasmus Charter (ECHE) in a European Union member
country.
What is Erasmus+
internship mobility?
Internship mobility offers our University students the
opportunity to gain international work experience of at least 2 months and at
most 12 months in one of the European Union Member countries, either in the
summer between two academic years or after graduation (provided that you apply
and win in the 4th grade). The internship program can also be planned in
institutions that our university does not have an agreement with. If it is
planned to be at the university, it should be an administrative position and
allow him to gain work experience in his field.
What does the
Erasmus+ Program provide?
The Erasmus+ Program gives you the opportunity to experience
abroad, take courses in a multicultural environment, get to know different
cultures, introduce Turkish culture, make new friends, be a student at a
different school and see a different system.
How long can I stay
abroad within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme?
Erasmus study mobility can be a minimum of 3 months and a
maximum of 12 months. The exchange period is determined by the Erasmus
Bilateral Agreement of the department/faculty. Mobility activities lasting less
than 3 months are not within the scope of Erasmus and cannot be granted a
grant.
Erasmus internship mobility can be a minimum of 2 months and
a maximum of 12 months.
You can benefit from the Erasmus program for up to 12 months
in total for both education and internship at the same education level (levels:
Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, Doctorate). There is no
limit to the number of applications or programs you will attend. -10 points
will be applied to your next application for each Erasmus program you have
previously participated in.
Who can benefit from
Erasmus+ learning mobility?
Associate, undergraduate, master's and doctoral students
studying full-time at a higher education institution can benefit from Erasmus
study and internship mobility.
I'm in first grade.
Can I benefit from Erasmus?
Applications for study mobility are accepted for the next
academic year. In other words, even if you apply and win in your first year,
you can start your education program in the fall or spring semester of your
second year at the earliest. Internship mobility can be done in the summer
months, at the end of the first year at the earliest. In both programs, the application
criteria include having completed at least 1 semester in the department/program
in which you are registered.
I am a disabled
student, are the conditions the same for me?
When the conditions for participation in the Erasmus program
are evaluated, our disabled students are not in a negative situation in terms
of both evaluation and grant receipt, on the contrary, they have more gains.
Extra support is provided for certain expenses, although the application of +
points in evaluation and granting is limited.
I have a failed
course, can I benefit from Erasmus+ Education Mobility?
Yes. Students who have achieved the minimum academic average
do not have an obstacle to becoming an Erasmus student if they have a failed
course.
Can I go to any
university I want in Europe as an Erasmus+ student?
Your department/college/institute must have a Bilateral
Agreement regarding the program or department you attend.
Can I be an Erasmus+
intern student at any company or university in Europe?
You can also do your internship in organizations that our
university does not have agreements with. The most important issue in this
regard is whether the internship program is related to your department.
Additionally, there are restrictions on working in official organizations
related to the European Union Commission and Erasmus.
My Department/Faculty
does not have a Bilateral Agreement, but the University does. Can I benefit
from Erasmus?
According to the practice, as an Erasmus student, you can
only go to universities with which your department has an agreement.
How important is
English in student mobility?
A student who will go abroad as an Erasmus student must have
a good command of English. The English language is largely a unifying language
within European countries. However, it is also possible to ask to know the
language of instruction at the school attended. The student must know English
or the language of the country he/she is visiting at a level to meet the
requirements of the Erasmus education or internship mobility, and before
starting the activity, it is necessary to know which language or languages
are accepted in the institution to be visited.
Do I have to take a
foreign language exam to benefit from the Erasmus+ Programme?
Yes. When selecting an Erasmus education mobility student,
50% of the grade point average and 50% of the language score are taken and
according to the calculated weighted average, the number of students allowed by
the Bilateral Agreement quota becomes Erasmus candidate students. Students who
apply to benefit from the program are obliged to take the foreign language
exams held at the places and dates announced on our page during the application periods.
Can I change my
preference?
In order for students to change their preferences, there
must be vacant quotas. As long as there are vacant quotas, the petition
approved and signed by the required department coordinator and the student's
justification must be submitted to the Erasmus Office.
Is there a certain number of courses I will take at the
institution I will attend?
In response to the courses that the student must take at the
university in Türkiye, equivalent courses are determined at the higher
education institution he/she will attend, and the recognition of the courses
taken is recorded and secured with the Learning Agreement signed between the
student, the student's department academic coordinator and the institution
he/she will attend before the exchange period. Course names and contents are
not expected to be exactly the same, it is sufficient for the course contents to
overlap to a certain extent.
When choosing courses, 30 ECTS credits for the semester (one
semester) and 60 ECTS credits for 1 year should be targeted. When students who
are deemed successful return to Türkiye, they will be counted as having spent
the semester(s) of their education abroad in Türkiye. Students who are deemed
unsuccessful will continue their education from where they left off before
becoming an Erasmus student, but will be exempt from courses equal to the total
credits of the courses they passed.
In some countries, an academic year consists of 3 semesters.
If the student is included in the education mobility system in this system and
will study for one trimester, he/she is responsible for taking 20 ECTS, and if
he/she will study for two trimesters, he/she is responsible for taking 40 ECTS.
Who can help me with
visa procedures?
Immediately after being selected as an Erasmus student, call
the consulate of the country you will visit. Visa procedures and required
documents vary depending on the country of exchange. Check the
Embassy/Consulate website of the relevant country. Be very careful to complete
all required documents. For the economic status guarantee required by some
countries, you can submit a letter from the Erasmus Office to the embassy
stating that you are an Erasmus student and that you are given support in the
amount of a monthly grant in this context, which will make it easier for you to
obtain a visa.
Why do we pay visa
fees at the consulate even though we receive a letter from the university for a
visa?
Requesting visa fees by some Consulates is entirely at the
discretion of those institutions, as these institutions are independent within
the countries they are located in and such practices are entirely related to
the states to which they are affiliated.
Who arranges my
accommodation for my Erasmus+ study period?
It is not the responsibility of universities to arrange
accommodation for outgoing students or university staff. Students who are
selected as Erasmus students by our university apply for acceptance after being
nominated by the institution they will attend. During this application, the
host institution may usually send the student an "accommodation form"
or provide information about accommodation opportunities (deadlines for
dormitory applications, required documents, dormitory/accommodation fees,
etc.). You should follow the information provided about accommodation, and if a
suitable option is not offered, you should investigate your own accommodation
opportunities.
Which health
insurance should I get?
Although each country you visit has different demands,
choose the most comprehensive health insurance with international validity. It
is recommended to learn the contents and scopes of insurance from head offices.
The insurance to be taken out for internship mobility must include
"Liability Insurance Against Third Parties". According to the grant
agreement, the health insurance we request costs approximately 40-50 Euros for
education and 60-70 Euros for internship.
Will I pay
registration fee at the university I attend?
No. The host university cannot request any registration,
exam or tuition fees from the student coming within the scope of the Erasmus
program. However, an additional payment may be requested for the use of various
materials such as insurance, photocopies of academic materials, and use of
laboratory products. There you will not pay additional fees for any services
that a full-time student would not pay to use the service.
Can I make changes to
the Learning Agreement?
Yes. The courses you will take at the university you are
matched with may not be offered, and the course hours may not fit your
schedule. In this case, you can make changes to your courses by contacting your
department coordinator. However, changes to be made in the study agreement for
various reasons must be made within 1 month at the latest following the start
of the academic term at the higher education institution the student attends
and must be approved by the student's own higher education institution and the
authorities of the higher education institution the student attends. You should
also use the “During Mobility” pages of your learning agreement to make
changes.
How much grant can I
receive if I am an Erasmus+ study mobility student?
The Erasmus grant does not aim to finance the entire
exchange activity. It is only intended to cover additional expenses arising
from the student's stay abroad. Grant amounts are determined by the European
Commission and the Turkish National Agency in each contract period and are sent
to the account of higher education institutions by the National Agency in
certain periods.
Grants are paid to students in 2 installments. The first
installment is made if a grant is sent by the National Agency before the
student goes on exchange, not exceeding 80% of the total grant. The grant the
student will receive is calculated according to the exchange period specified
in the invitation he/she will receive from the university before going abroad.
However, the final grant payment to the student will be made based on the dates
stated in the Certificate of Attendance to be submitted at the end of the
exchange. Grants may vary depending on the country of destination. Since the
issue of how much grant support is provided to which country may vary, you can
access the current table on the announcement page of the application that is
open at that time in the announcements section of our website.
The education program is granted for up to 4 months and 15
days, and the Internship program is granted for 2 months. Students who start
their education program in the fall and extend it to the spring, or students
who go for an internship and complete their internship for more than 2 months,
will not receive extra aid, but they can make their program longer with a
partial grant.
Why is it necessary
to open a Euro account?
The reason for opening a Euro account is that money is
transferred from the European Union Education and Youth Programs Center to
universities in Turkey in Euros and the university budgets have money in Euros.
Can I benefit from
Erasmus study mobility without receiving a grant?
Yes, even if you cannot receive money from the Erasmus fund,
you can go to an educational institution with which you have a bilateral
agreement as a "Grant-free Erasmus" exchange student, provided that
you apply and meet the student selection criteria of the relevant academic
year. Students without a grant are also subject to general evaluation along
with other applications and go through the same process as Erasmus students
with a grant.
What is the Grade
Point Average Requirement for Erasmus+ applications?
In the selection of students, the base score must be a
weighted GPA of 2.20/4 for undergraduate and 2.5/4 for master's and doctorate
degrees.
